Block, Weave & Counter in Ragdoll Boxing 3D — The Complete Defense Guide
Master defense in Ragdoll Boxing 3D: when to block with F, how to weave with Q/E, reading opponent patterns and turning every defense into a counter-attack.
Defense Wins More Fights Than Offense
In Ragdoll Boxing 3D, the player who gets ragdolled first usually loses. Defense is not passive — every blocked attack is a free counter window, and every weave is a whiff you punish. This guide covers the three defensive tools and the mind-reading layer on top of them.
Blocking (Hold F)
Holding F guards against most incoming punches. Blocking costs nothing and keeps your stamina intact — but you cannot attack while holding it. Core rules:
- Block spam, punish recovery — hold F through their combo, then strike as it ends.
- Do not hold block forever — patient opponents will wait for your drop.
- Blocking is the setup, the counter is the payoff — always follow a successful block with a strike.
Weaving (Q / E)
Q dodges left, E dodges right. Weaving moves your hitbox out of the punch arc entirely — blocked punches still touch you, weaved punches miss completely. Weave is the better tool against single heavy punches, while block is better against fast combo strings.
- Weave into the opponent's side to end up behind their shoulder — many follow-ups whiff entirely.
- A weaved punch is the biggest punish window in the game: hook → heavy finishes most fighters.
- Weaving costs a small amount of stamina — do not spam it.
Jumping (Space)
Space jumps over low swings and resets range. It is also a trap: jump prediction is the easiest read in the game, and an uppercut (M1+up) on an airborne target is a near-guaranteed ragdoll. Jump defensively, never predictably.
Reading Your Opponent
Every player has a pattern in the first 30 seconds. Watch for it:
- Opens with jab every time → block the jab, punish the recovery with a hook.
- Spams hooks → weave left (Q), they will miss, punish with jab → hook.
- Jumps a lot → hold M1+up — the uppercut catches every landing.
- Never blocks → pressure with jab → hook until they do; then use the block punish route from our combo guide.
The Counter Triangle
Defense in this game is a triangle: Block beats spam, Weave beats heavy, Jump beats low. Read which tool your opponent leans on and pick the counter. If you can name what your opponent did last round, you already know what beats it this round.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is blocking or weaving better in Ragdoll Boxing 3D?
Block against fast combo strings, weave against single heavy punches. Weaving fully avoids damage and gives the biggest punish window.
How do I counter punch spam?
Hold F through the string, then strike the moment it ends. Spammers have no stamina left to defend.
Why do I keep getting hit while blocking?
Either your stamina is empty or the attack came from an angle — hooks from the side sometimes slip past straight guards. Add weaving for those.
